The Fourth!

So I'm definitely more than a few days late... but here's some photos from my 4th of July celebrations!  There's nothing better than family, food, and fireworks!
(Yay for alliteration)

Perfect Days

I believe that everyone deserves to have at least one perfect day in their lifetime, more if they're lucky. There's just something about the perfect that is completely and utterly life-affirming. It makes all the other not-so-perfect days worth it. No matter what happens on every other day, you can always look back and remember what it felt like for everything to be right; literally for not a thing to be wrong. Some people might not believe in the perfect day, they might say that it's simply a wishful but useless hope, like Santa or 24 hour lipstick that doesn't end up all over your date's face or feel like silly putty on your lips. But to all those naysayers, let me tell you: I've had a perfect day, they exist. Believing in the perfect day is like believing in love or the good of humanity, no one can present a scientific proof of its existence... you have to see it for yourself.

And once you've had a perfect day, you know what happiness really is.

Daddy Day!

Hello everyone! I hope you have all had a wonderful Father's Day! Even though I couldn't be with my daddy on his special day (he's currently travelling for work), it was still so fun to spend it with my Grandpa and family members!
Since Father's Day is such a fun and summery occasion, this morning I thought it would be fun to make special dessert pizzas to celebrate the day! I used these two fabulous recipes that I found here and here. They turned out simply wonderful, such a great summer dessert!
Berry and S'mores pizza paired with bright flowers and loving family makes for a perfect sunday afternoon!

Happy Father's Day Daddy!!! I'll always be your little girl :)
Hope you all had a wonderful Sunday!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Have a cuppa and just breathe!
I've always loved Wednesday. I know that's a bit odd because it's the day smack dab in the middle of the workweek and the stresses of life are usually piling up to climax at this point. For most people, the only source of relief from this pressure-cooker of emotions and deadlines is the thought of Friday afternoon when everything can be put on pause for a couple of days. But not for me! I look forward to Wednesday because of its central position in the week. I love the symmetry of 5-day work weeks and I guess I see Wednesday as a little resting place of its own-- a place to sit and reflect on how the things I learned on Monday and Tuesday can help me better live my life on Thursday and Friday. It's like my own personal refuge from my usual stressed-out, freaked-out, totally unnecessarily anxious self-commentary. On Wednesdays I remind myself to breathe more deeply and care less! Sometimes we all get caught up in the millions upon millions of things we think we need to do. But that's just it, we actually don't have millions of things to do, we just don't have a proper mindset in which to plan out our tasks in an orderly way! If I have a particularly busy week, it always makes me feel rather silly when I actually take the time to plan out when I'm going to do what. My feeling of self-embarrassment always arises because I realize that I constantly let myself get stressed over the most minute details! Wednesday is all about the big picture, a day to realize the things that are really important and the things that add no more to your life than stress and anxiety. So I wish you all a truly wonderful wednesday and may you breathe a little easier and laugh a little louder today!

ps. I took this photo at La Colombe, a beautiful coffee shop in between Lafayette and 4th St. in Manhattan. If you're in the area, this place is definitely worth checking out!

Meowin' on a Monday Morning!

There are few things that I love in this world as much as kittens! And those things include my baby cousin Lexie Lou, the perfect shoes on a perfect day, and sweets! Hope your Monday is off to a cuddly start! :)

In two worlds.

Summer is here and I am home in Los Angeles. After the crazy whirlwind year I experienced in New York, I could barely wait to come back to the place where I grew up. And dont get me wrong, I'm very happy to be back where it's hot and familiar... but something about New York is stuck in me now. I find myself waiting until it's time to go back. Something about that dirty, awful, kind of frightening place has made me fall in love. And I can't wait until September.
